Project Snapshot

Background

One of the challenges this customer faced was the high energy costs of running air-conditioned facilities in the summer and heated facilities in the winter. These high energy costs were impacting on their future investment plans for the museum.

The customer required a grid tied connected solar system that would significantly reduce operating costs in energy and have a reasonable payback period.

Solution

The 68.64kWp roof mount array installed in Fielding, Palmerston North, New Zealand consist of 1 x GoodWe 80kW solar inverter and the inverter has a built-in Wifi feature allowing remote monitoring of the generation. This system also consists of smart electrical energy meters, protection equipment and outdoor/interior cabling between solar array as per required standards.

Outcome and Benefits

This grid-tied connected solar system generates 90MWh/year of solar energy. The Museum has been able to use daytime energy requirement to run facility and the excess power generated is being exported to the grid.

This has resulted in significant power saving for the museum allowing them to reallocate funds to future investments.
